Keith White Shows Incredible Determination

Details are sketchy at the because Keith has got a lot to deal with at the moment, but if you are following his GPS Tracker you might have noticed Keith’s slow progress. It seems that the reason for this is that due to some sort of failure, one of the foresails was dragging in the water alongside the boat and slowing him down.

it’s been a long day there was some big waves and high winds. dragging the jib on starboard side slowing the boat down

However last night we did receive a message to say he’s managed to get the sail back on deck. If anyone has tried to lift a dry sail, with 2 hands, will know how heavy and cumbersome they are. Imagine lifting a wet sail out of the water on a moving boat with 1 hand in 40 knots of wind. Yet again Keith shows incredible determination. He just refuses to be beaten.

Currently he’s sat with very little wind, which will at least give him a break. But actually he’s just wants to get to port, make the repairs and get on with the job of sailing single handed around the world.

I would like some wind to get me in now then moor up and have a shower then fix marathon

When asked if he’s determined to carry on;

As soon as I change the sails and fit new rope I’m off!

Keith has been overwhelmed by the sheer volume of support and kind words from all over the world. He’s asked me to pass on his love and thanks to everyone who has shown an interest and left such wonderful messages of support.

About the Author:

Keith lives on the Isle of Wight and is an accomplished solo offshore Yachtsman. He lost the use of his left arm in a motorway accident in 1991, so he really is your genuine single handed yachtsman. What is incredible is that not only has his disability not prevented him from living his dreams, it’s spurred him on to better things. In 2015 he takes on the pinnacle of solo sailing by sailing single-handed and non stop around the world in his World Challenge.

    Seems to me that Keith has the determination of a British Bulldog, and I don’t mean the insurance company’s one! If anyone can achieve this voyage, repair stop or not, he can.
