Round the Island Race 2015

Round the Island Race 2015

Today we competed in the famous Round the Island Race. We were just one boat among over 1500 boats, racing side by side as around the Isle of Wight.

It was a beautiful day with a bunch of mates all having a great time. You would be mistaken to think were just out for the ride – we were racing hard, always trying to pass the next boat. Marathon sailed beautifully too, I was so pleased that the hard work was taking shape. And even though the wind picked up a bit, she felt very safe and fast.

In the end we completed the race in 09 hours, 1 minute and 31 seconds.

Keith lives on the Isle of Wight and is an accomplished solo offshore Yachtsman. He lost the use of his left arm in a motorway accident in 1991, so he really is your genuine single handed yachtsman. What is incredible is that not only has his disability not prevented him from living his dreams, it’s spurred him on to better things. In 2015 he takes on the pinnacle of solo sailing by sailing single-handed and non stop around the world in his World Challenge.
